In a crucial semi-final clash of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, Nepal has presented a 116-run target for Malaysia to chase. Batting first, Nepal finished their innings with a score of 115 for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Captain Indu Verma top-scored for Nepal with a patient 29 runs off 37 balls, including two boundaries. Opener Kavita Kunwar also contributed a valuable 23 runs off 31 balls with two fours. Rubina Chhetri provided a boost with a quickfire 20 runs in 18 balls, while Dolly Bhatt’s explosive late innings of 25 off just 14 balls (featuring two sixes and a four) propelled Nepal’s total.
Malaysia’s bowling effort was led by Mahirah Izzati Ismail, who claimed 2 wickets, and Winifred Duraisingam, who took 1 wicket.
The winner of this semi-final will secure a place in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, scheduled for July. They will join India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and two other qualifying teams in the prestigious tournament.
The UAE has already secured its place in the T20 Asia Cup after defeating Thailand in the first semi-final.
