Nepal won the toss and elected to bat against Papua New Guinea (PNG) in their ongoing triangular T20 series match in Hong Kong. The Nepalese team is aiming for their first victory of the tournament after rain disruptions caused their opening match against Hong Kong to be abandoned.
The triangular series includes Nepal, hosts Hong Kong, and PNG. Rain interruptions on Sunday resulted in Nepal and Hong Kong sharing points after the match was called off.
The series continues until Wednesday and is a vital warm-up for Nepal ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in June. Rohit Paudel captains the squad, which includes players like Kushal Bhurtel, Binod Bhandari, Gulshan Jha, Sandeep Zora, Arif Sheikh, Bibek Yadav, Karan KC, Abinash Bohora, Rashid Khan, Pratish JC, Sagar Dhakal, Akash Chand, and Lokesh Bam.
Several key players, including Dipendra Singh Aire, Asif Sheikh, Sompal Kami, Kushal Malla, Anil Shah, and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, are absent from the series and have been given a rest.
Nepal previously faced a loss to Hong Kong in the Friendship Cup last Saturday, held before the start of the triangular T20 series.
