Nepal Police emerged victorious in a thrilling final, securing the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024 title by defeating Tribhuvan Army Club at the Tribhuvan University cricket ground.
In a spectacular display of skill and determination, the Police team claimed a decisive six-wicket win, maintaining an unbeaten record throughout the tournament. The final, marked by intense competition, saw Tribhuvan Army Club opting to bat first after winning the toss, setting a target of 182 runs.
Bibek Yadav’s half-century, scoring 63 runs, played a pivotal role for the Army Club. However, Nepal Police’s bowlers, Lalit Rajbangshi and Dipendra Singh Airee, showcased their prowess by each taking three wickets. Sagar Dhakal, Karan KC, and Kushal Burtel secured one wicket each.
In a gripping second innings, Nepal Police successfully chased down the target in 37.5 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Shankar Rana emerged as the top contributor with 62 runs, supported by Arjun Saud (36 runs), Amit Shrestha (28 runs), and Aarif Sheikh (27 runs).
The tournament featured the participation of 10 teams, including seven representing the seven provinces and three departmental teams. Nepal Police’s outstanding performance and victory in the final not only marked their success in the prestigious cricket competition but also showcased their dominance in the national cricket arena.
