Liverpool bounced back from an early deficit to defeat Luton Town 4-1 at Anfield on Wednesday, extending their lead at the top of the English Premier League table.
Luton Town took a surprise lead through Chiedozie Ogbene’s header, but Liverpool stormed back in the second half. Virgil van Dijk’s header from a corner equalized in the 56th minute, quickly followed by Cody Gakpo’s finish from an Alexis Mac Allister cross to put Liverpool ahead. Luis Diaz added a third in the 71st minute, and Harvey Elliott put the game away with a late fourth.
The win is Liverpool’s third in a row after a loss to Arsenal last month, and they now hold a four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s side will look to carry this momentum into Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Chelsea. Meanwhile, Luton remains in the relegation zone with 20 points.
